"I love Anna's approach to technique. With previous teachers it was either theory or practice - they never really linked up. Anna quickly zones in on my problems, we explore them together and she provides practical solutions that work. Now I can project my voice without having to shout. I know which techniques to use and I can apply them quite quickly in the moment, even if my voice is tired. That’s a huge change. Another one was breathing. I didn’t realise how little breath you need for some of the phrases. It has changed my life as a singer! It’s not just about technique though, I love the enthusiasm she brings to my songs. We really work with what they mean to me so I can portray them as I intended when I wrote them. That really changed a lot of my performances. Anna is one of the best singing teachers I know out there."

- Cornelia Bent, Music Therapist and lead singer, 'Useless Cities'

"Anna is just awesome at helping you explore your voice. Before I had lessons with Anna I wasn’t sure what my unique sound was or the capabilities of my voice. I tried Youtube channels and online singing tutorials but realised it was hard to understand if I was improving. It’s completely different when you have someone there guiding you, helping you grow. One of the best things about her lessons is that they’re so interesting. I feel like I’m getting such an insight into the voice and it feels so empowering. I’ve seen myself grow as a singer and I’m really surprising myself with what I can do now. If you’re considering having lessons with Anna, I’d say do it! Anna, thank you for expanding my knowledge and love for singing." (UNDERLINED USED AS STANDALONE QUOTE TOO ON SINGING PAGE)

"Anna is a very supportive, positive, talented and professional vocal coach. I am a lead singer in a semi professional band, but was suffering with a fairly constant sore throat. Anna helped me focus on my technique to ensure that I wasn't doing anything that may be damaging my voice. I am now more confident that I am using the correct technique and have been able to focus more on developing my music and singing style. I would recommend Anna as a teacher for all levels of singers."

- Emma Kitchen, lead singer, 'Emma and the Fragments'

“Anna's range and expertise is well beyond what you might traditionally expect from a vocal coach. Her personable manner, deep interest in people and with that, ability to pinpoint where the opportunity to improve lies, means she gets to the point fast. I worked with her when prepping for a career-defining panel event in order to refine speech tempo and intonation. This freed my mind up to focus on the content with less worry about delivery getting in the way. So if you're preparing to be on stage as part of a panel, presenting to large group - or prepping for a career-defining 1:1 with a stakeholder - I'd say a coaching session with Anna Clayton will be an investment worth your while.” (FULL QUOTE USED ON SPEAKING PAGE)

"I have been doing Musical Theatre for two years now, and I would not have achieved what I have if it wasn't for Miss Clayton (Anna). I have done 2 grades, grades 3 and 5. I received 93% on grade 3 and 97% on grade 5. Out of all my music teachers past and present, my favourite was and will always be Miss Clayton (Anna). She is so understanding, thoughtful and kind, but will still give you an extra push when you need it. Most of her pupils get Distinctions and barely any get less. Miss Clayton only puts you into exams when you are truly ready to do the very best you can do. So whoever you are, if you have any interest in the art of Musical Theatre, please I implore you, take (lessons with Anna) Miss Clayton, if you don't you are surely missing out. I wish I could still have her but sadly I can't, she will definitely be missed by me and my fellow pupils. Good luck Miss Clayton, and good luck to you, her future pupils, I hope you exceed your dreams."

“Anna taught my daughter singing from age 15 to age 20. Throughout that time, whilst always very professional and maintaining high standards, she was very much regarded as a friend of the family. Her positive outlook and infectious enthusiasm contributed greatly to the whole family’s appreciation of music. As well as preparing both Shireen and my wife, Radha for Musical Theatre and Rock School exams, Anna helped us with the musical contribution to parties that we held at Christmas. Anna also held recitals for all her students, where we could hear all the different styles and levels that Anna taught and the great fun that all her students experienced taking part in these events. Shortly before Anna unfortunately moved away from London, she also started teaching my six-year old son. He loved it (and he’s not easily pleased!), which shows how versatile Anna is.

Anna isn’t just a great singing teacher, she is also a warm and dedicated personality, and we have been proud to have her as our singing teacher.”

"Anna has worked with us since we established Make Believe Rotherhithe in September 2011 and is an invaluable member of the team. She works brilliantly with the kids and has made huge progress - many of them had never sung properly and the improvement in their ability they have achieved under Anna's guidance is incredible. Watching her conduct the groups for performances is a joy - her energy and enthusiasm is infectious and a real inspiration to the students."

"When I first started lessons with Anna, I was out of practice and lacking direction, having had some previous experience in singing but not an awful lot. I didn't know what to expect, but as soon as the first lesson had begun I was thoroughly reassured that we would achieve a lot together. Her enthusiasm and consistently thoughtful instruction has helped me to very quickly gain confidence in my abilities, and she has always tailored my lessons very carefully to my style and personal aims. Having said this, she is not afraid to nudge you out of your comfort zone, which is an important part of the learning process for any performer. I have considerably improved in technique and expression from her tuition, and now have a wealth of new skills as well as understanding the reasoning behind the method. From the warm-up to the performance, and everything in between, Anna shows herself to be a top-notch teacher, a versatile singer and an expert of her field. I've also had an incredible amount of fun along the way!"

- Madeleine Hamey

"Anna is one of the most patient, supporting and understanding teachers I have had the pleasure of learning from. From the very first lesson (session) she put me at my ease about my level of singing, and laid out a plan of how to develop each aspect of my voice. She has been able to identify and personally relate to many of the vocal hurdles I have faced, and devised personalised exercises and drills to remedy these. I am delighted with the progress I have made in the last year under Anna's teaching and can recommend her as one of the most talented and professional teachers I have had." "I asked Anna to prepare me for a charity talent competition at work and she did a super job in getting me ready for the performance. She instills confidence in you, helps you to hit the right notes and get the right pacing. Anna is also great at choreography and can help with matching movement to the music. She makes the whole experience fun and I would recommend her to anyone wanting help with a particular event or singing purely for pleasure."

“I was slightly intimidated, having agreed to sing with a friend's band, on stage, in 5 weeks. Just one track. Did it warrant singing lessons? I was worried that I would be seen as an amateur. My concerns were to be quickly washed away. Anna is open and super friendly - quick to adapt her knowledgeable teaching style to suit you. With seemingly effortless patience, she is unfailing in supplying encouragement and constructive feedback. Whilst I have no intention of a singing career (any time soon), I have been left in no doubt that Anna's skills can take you all the way there, should that be your goal.”

- Neil Phillips

"I had never taken singing lessons when I took lessons with Anna. In fact, to be honest I had never actually sung. I was in the choir at school but quickly mastered mouthing the words. I felt too shy and nervous of making a mistake to try actual singing. It is still a mystery to me and my family how I ended up in that choir! I was nervous when I arrived for my first lesson but Anna rapidly put me at absolute ease. Soon she had me laughing and totally relaxed and unselfconscious. She also showed me that I do have a voice and made me feel brilliant and really excited to progress over time. The experience of taking lessons with Anna felt life changing for someone like me. I might have never discovered my voice had it not been for her. "
